Sign in photo translated below2009 Xichang Sichuan eviction protest sign

An eighty year-old woman protest at being evicted from her home. I asked if the police are unhappy about the sign. She said “Let them come! If they put me in jail they will have to feed me!” The case went to the appeals court but she lost.
We All Need to Live A Commentary on Society and Law
— Grabbing Power, Grabbing Money, Grabbing Women; Buying and Selling Official Positions, the Party’s Character is Declining

This case has gone on for a long while. There is only darkness in my old age. The strange case of the Communist Dynasty, there are few like it in China and certainly none in foreign countries. I have a small home. Why did the Communists come and take it away? This is the same of the Communist Party. This is an insult to the people. When someone in their own family commits a crime, nobody dares do anything about it. I appealed to the people, I appealed to the National People’s Congress.
The accuser was a 75 years old man named Deng Yougang. The accused was the Mayor Fu of the Xichang City Committee and Director Fu of the Xichang City People’s Congress in order to toady to my daughter-in-law, plotted together with Yang Qingfeng, the chief judge and secretary of the Party Committee of the Xichang City Court and chief Judge Fu of the Liangshan Prefecture Intermediate Court and Party Committee Secretary Luo Xiaochun. You Ming’an of the supervisory court of the Sichuan Provincial Commercial Court worked hand-in-glove with them to secretly change registrations and did a trick to create a new document in order to alter the records.
This reflects the corruption in the legal system. This exposes the negligence of the ruling party towards the law and the judgments of the courts. They work together closely to create a network of corrupt forces. Just because they are all communists, they have power, influence and money. Some of them are communist party secretaries. Some of them send their sons and daughters out of the country to reside overseas. It is often said that the bad officials of the Party run away to live overseas. If the father does not correct the son, the son will be lost.

I am an ordinary person. Within neither money, nor power, nor influence. I have not the courage to be butchered.

Another sign she had up, partial translation:

Xichang evicted woman banner
“All corrupt officials have protectors (houtai) behind them, from the center all the way down to the local level. For the sake of the victory of the revolution, these protectors must be satisfied. Some men want women, others want money. As long as they are kept satisfied, anything is possible. Since they are all party secretaries, what they say goes. The party center supports them and their revisionism. [in big letters] Oppose the handful of party secretaries who are occupying our homes. A long, long live to the corrupt revisionist officials!”
